Classroom Management Philosophy
My classroom management philosophy is built around three principles: consistency, expectations, and relationships. I will create consistency by setting my expectations for my students on day one. These expectations include respect for others and daily engagement. I will build relationships early on as I start the year with a get-to-know-me tool and work to incorporate each of my students' strengths into my lesson plans. Finally, I believe strongly in the use of proximity. I will design my lessons in a way that I am able to walk around easily as students are working so that I can monitor behavior and engagement.

Teaching and Homework Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is also centered around the importance of engagement. I believe there is no way for students to learn mathematics without being active in the classroom. I will use a variety of methods such as group work, peer tutoring, class reflections and discussions, and math manipulatives to create the most student engagement in my classroom.
The content I will be teaching will be centered around two ideas. First, I will follow the ideas of John Dewey by educating the whole child. I will use real-world examples and world problems to help my students gain practical skills that they will use in the real world. Second, I will inspire a sense of wonder about mathematics in my students by taking time each week to highlight ideas which are extraordinarily beautiful or exciting to me. This may be done by examining videos, unique examples, diagrams, manipulatives, and other additional resources.
